Jack's Art Project--Sort of....

Onto art for Jackson's soon-to-be finished room....The title of this post of "Jack's Art Project", but the reality is, is that its Mommy's Art Project, for Jack's room.....anyhoo...

Jackson wanted a haaauuuuugggge piece of art (a cool looking canvas piece) from Ikea, but it was $150. He did get a lot of birthday money, but not that much...so, we settled on this smaller canvas from Ikea that's pretty cool:
This piece is 35" square. However the wall it needs to go on is pretty big, and this obviously didn't offer a whole lot of color....
This is a method of "doing" art that I've done in the past, here:

It helps frame a "frameless" picture and helps fill in space, if your actual art is too small. These were just posters mounted to foam core board w/ spray adhesive.

So....I decided to paint a large navy blue square around it, like this:

Tape...make sure you use a level or your husband might give you one of "those" looks....

BMoore Hale's Navy...isn't it awesome?!

Why paint the middle where the picture is going? Yeah, I'm a thinker like that....

Isn't it big and pretty? I mean, cool and manly?

What are you boxing in this week?!

See where I've linked up here:

This is a really great idea! I love the final result. IKEA is a great place full of sweet finds at wonderful prices. It's always so crowded so I pack my patience when I go there. Thanks for sharing your tips!
