Its the Little Things....

I have wanted to have some "chalk board" vinyl on the inside of my cabinets for sometime now. What, you ask? Exactly. Vinyl that looks like chalk board material, but you can use a "chalk" pen on it, then wipe it off with ease. I haven't had a good spot to put my grocery list, so that everyone can contribute, when they use something up. Plus, I thought it would be fun to list the week's menu items, just so everyone can stop asking "what's for dinner"? Now that 4/5 of us can read, I thought that we're ready....

Here's the menu side. I do my meal planning over the weekends, then write it up here, for all to see during the week.

The kids like to see what's happening each night, and this helps me to know what time each afternoon I need to start wrangling dinner. Anyone ever plan to make a dinner that needed to be marinated, but just got started at 6p? Doh!

Here's the perspective when the cabinets are open. The one on the left is the grocery list. I have room to do "grocery", "Costco", and "Trader Joes".

Here's the little white "chalk" pen I use. It dries quickly, but wipes off the vinyl with just a wet paper towel. Easy! I get these at Ben Franklin. I've just been keeping this in the cabinet, so I can have it at the ready.

How do you wrangle your menu planning and grocery lists???!

**Here's where my friend, Heather, got this vinyl for me:

Here's where I've linked up, too!!

Love that idea! I knew they made chalkboard paint, but didn't know about the vinyl. Where did you get it?

Not sure I can work it into my current cabinets, but if I could it would be a great place to do the menu for the week. I keep the grocery list on my phone using GroceryIQ, and with this my husband can add items from the iPad and it updates my phone even if I am out which is nice.

Where did you get the vinyl? I've seen the fabric at Packaging Specialities, but not flatter vinyl. Love your idea. As always...
